What I Like to Read

Non-Fiction: My first literary love, of course, is the Holy Scriptures. I have practiced the discipline of reading through the Bible from a different (but faithful!) version each year. My training has given me the ability to read both Greek and (my favourite language) Hebrew, but for my personal reading I currently use the Geneva Bible, based on the New King James Version.

I also like to read historical and biographical literature relating to the Church of Jesus Christ, such as the works of Martin Lloyd-Jones.

Fiction: Perhaps because of my early work as a police officer, or my calling as a minister, or maybe just because I like a good story, I'm particularly disposed toward good mysteries and tales of political intrigue. William Buckley and Tom Clancy are two of the leading authors in this genre.

Here's a list of Tom Clancy's books. For an online discussion of Clancy's work (Clancy himself has commented in this discussion) click here. You can even send email to Clancy.
